AUA announces 2025 Distinguished Awards Recognizing Top Urologists

On December 4, 2024, the American Urological Association (AUA) announced the list of 2025 award recipients recognizing top urologists in the field. Honorees will be recognized next April at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, during a ceremony celebrating physician researchers and educators for their contributions to the field of medicine, the specialty of urology, and the AUA.

David Jarrard, MD, professor and vice chair in the UW Department of Urology, won the Hugh Hampton Young Award. This honor is presented annually to an individual for their outstanding contributions to the study of genitourinary tract disease. Dr. Jarrard was selected for his scientific and clinical contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Sutchin R. Patel, MD, Clinical Assistant Adjunct Professor with the DOU, won the William P. Didusch Art and History Award, and former faculty member Tracy Downs, MD, won the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Award.

In addition, E. Jason Abel, MD, Walid Farhat, MD, Sarah McAchran, MD, Kristina Penniston, PhD, Kyle Richards, MD, and William Ricke, PhD from UW-Madison’s Department of Urology, received Presidential Citations. These awards are presented to individuals deemed by the AUA President to have significantly promoted the cause of urology.
