The UW Urology Diversity Scholarship supports an individual desiring a four-week visiting clerkship at the top-ranked urology program at the University of Wisconsin. Two scholarships, each up to $1500, are available each summer to cover fees, travel, housing, and transportation expenses associated with the visiting sub-internship.
Eligibility Requirements
The UW Urology Diversity Scholarship is intended to support students who identify with but not limited to:
- High level of financial need and/or
- First-generation college student (neither parent received a baccalaureate degree) and/or
- Students who contribute to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of the program because of their life experiences, including overcoming personal adversity or family hardship, records of extensive community service, or successful careers in other fields; and/or
- Significant barriers to achieving higher education, such as experience in the foster care system, living in a single-parent household, having an incarcerated parent, or responsibilities for providing financial support or primary care for other household members and/or
- Students from medical schools without a home urology program.
Candidates must ALSO meet the following requirements:
- Plan to apply for residency in urology
- Current student enrolled and in good academic standing at an LCME-accredited medical school in the United States entering their fourth year of medical education
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents
Individuals from universities other than the University of Wisconsin are eligible for the program.
Scholarships are available for four-week rotations in July, August, and September.
Students interested in applying for a urology residency at UW will have the opportunity to interview for residency during their visiting elective.
